i Mushroom Culture Food Review

i Mushroom

Bandar Puteri, Puchong is way away from our office. It was a looong drive and we were going to a  restaurant,  i Mushroom Culture. (Are we eating only mushrooms ?)

Parking was a problem because there’re many eateries in this area. So if you’re planning to drop in at this restaurant for lunch, do go early.

We settled in and spoke to the manager, Derek who told us that this vegetarian restaurant was seven years old. I just had to ask about the name.

i actually stands for international; and mushroom - because mushrooms can be found everywhere! (Some of their signature dishes come with mushrooms)

The place is rather spacious with square and round tables.

You could actually celebrate an occasion here. It has subtle lightings and I liked the light fixtures.

I also spotted some press releases. Too bad it was all from Chinese dailies and I couldn’t read a thing. (got the photos!)

The first one up was Mushroom in Western Style Sauce.

Plump button mushrooms served in dark sauce. The mushrooms are so fresh and almost crunchy. The sauce is not too thick and has a slight gingery taste to it. Nicee…

Then came the Yam Basket.

The yam is delicious! So fresh, you can taste the ‘yamminess’ in it. This is a not the kind which has more flour than yam. Almost had me singing …” so good you can even eat it on its own…” J

And now for the yummy treasures inside…comes with ‘chicken’, capsicums, carrots, celery, button and straw mushrooms, dried chillies and ginger slices topped with almond flakes.

The sauce is sweetish and spicy. And the veges are so, so crunchy!

Butter Prawn looks almost like the real thing.

Deep fried, topped with egg and fried curry leaves served on a bed of lettuce. The prawns are made from soya and I found this a bit too soft for me. I prefer it firmer to the bite. The crispy curry leaves made up for it! J

Stuffed Gluten is an interesting dish

which comes with a stuffing and a secret sauce. When you bite into the stretchy gluten roll, you taste this tasty, flavourful filling that is exactly like chicken meat. Mmmm. And the secret sauce… is a secret!! J

Fried Oyster Mushroom was next.

This crunchy yet soft mushrooms come with a sweetish Marmite sauce and topped with biscuit crumbs. We looved this!! J J

Herbal Soup with Monkey Head Mushroom.

The mushrooms look like a furry little animal- just needed 2 beady eyes! Was a bit unnerving at first – but it is good. It has a rubbery, bouncy texture that grows on you. This mushroom has medicinal purposes and can also be stir fried with other vegetables.

The herbal soup is mild and not too over powering. With lots of red dates, this soup is packed with healthy goodness.

Ice blended Soursop (front) Ice blended Mango (back)

These drinks are thick, rich and filling. Mmm….

We ate ALL these!!  J J

We came off full and happy. The serving portions were generous and the presentation was fine. It was great to eat at a place where people cook and serve whole heartedly.
